With care for nature

A family winery on the hills above Lake Skadar

We are a family winery perched on a hill above Rvaši — a historic village known for its´ winemaking heritage. Wine making has been part of our property for generations, but it was in 2020 that Borislav and Angelika Jablan decided to focus on native grapevines, regenerative vineyard practises and low intervention wine making. We grow local varieties — Vranac, Krstač/Primitivo, Zizak, Cubrica — and make our wines with minimal intervention. No chemicals, no shortcuts, spontaneous fermentation. Our orange and red wines age in Georgian Qveri amphoras, which give them their distinctive flavour. Some of our vines are over a hundred years old; most of the prized ones are aged 50 to 70. Since 2021 the vineyard is officially registered as a business. Our vintage 2025 is first certified organic, meeting EU-standards (ME-BIO-154)of organic production. Furthermore we are the first Montenegrin winery to receive DEMETER certification for biodynamic production and wines. We make just a few thousand bottles a year, at the pace of the land. We do not plan to scale. We want to make it right.

Where nature thrives

Lake Skadar an the surroundings

Skadar Lake is one of the most beautiful and biodiverse places in the Balkans and still remarkably under the radar. It's a National Park, a birdwatcher's paradise, and a haven for wild swimming, kayaking, and authentic food and wine. Our winery sits tucked in the hills above the lake, in one of the most unspoiled parts of the national park, it´s northern shoreline close to the hamlet Rijeka Crnojevica, yet only 30 minutes from the capital, Podgorica, 50min from Budva or 1h30min from Kotor. Pavlova strana view point is one of the most featured ones. It is only 4km from our place and you can perfectly combine it with a wine tasting at our place. This isn't the busy side of the lake. It's the quiet, slow, and intriguing one.

Are children welcome at Jablan?+

Yes, very much so. There's plenty of ground for games, a real size football goal plus our gang of cats, who are always happy to help.

Do you ship your wines?+

Not yet — we're working on it. For now, come with some extra room in your suitcase.

When's the best time to visit?+

Spring, summer and autumn (April - October) are ideal for the active tours — mild temperatures, long light. Summer is hot but, but a bike ride combined with a boat ride and a swim in the lake is very welcome.
